To be released on September 23rd, 2k16 via the Italian imprint Boring Machines is "Litio", the first collaborative album effort by the three musicians Alberto Boccardi, Paolo Mongardi and Antonio Bertoni who've been individually involved in musical releases on labels like Monotype Records, Important Records, Sub Pop and others in the past. Together they're creating a sonic world based on double-bass, percussions and the use of various electronic instruments which, in the opening track "Vento Square", are falling together in a quite intense manner, providing musical unrest by fusing clean FreeJazz- / Prog-reminiscing drumming, thunderous roars and tense, jittery electronic vibrations whilst "Chimera" is exploring territories to be described as fever'ish and ritualistic, based on intense tribal rhythms and dark, meandering layers of (Neo) Cosmic structures that - talking the overall feel of the tune here - evoke memories of Tangerine Dream's excellent score for the movie "The Sorcerer". The "Red Stone Floating" is introduced by a hypnotic sequence of metallic clangs which are providing the foundation for melancholia-driven, yet retrofuturistic movements of seemingly modular origin that could well be found in scores of late 70s or early 80s science fiction feature films. Finally "Reconfigure Matter / Energy / Space / Time" offers a fast paced, hounded energy whilst dark'ish low-frequency waves and eerie electronic atmospheres do indicate that evil and danger lurks everywhere beneath the fragile surface of our planet. Intense, unique and recommended for a reason!
