Anton Mobin (Paris) musician, improviser, radio activist, producer, sound artist. Since 2001 co-curator of the label H.A.K. Lo-Fi Records. Anton build his own instruments called "prepared chamber" and in which are ordered objects amplified by magnetic pickups and piezzo-electric contact microphones. Anton focuses another part of his work on tape manipulation and field recordings.
Pavel Mikhaylov (Moscow) artist, multi-instrumentalist, electronic music producer. Since 1999 cofounder and member of several underground groups and poetic art movements on the independent scene. Recently he uses analog modular synthesisers live on stage with his solo act and participate as a guest musician in art and sound performances which are mostly unprepared and improvised in a real time.
The process of working on the album started as a “quasi-improvised” composition experience. Concrete sounds such as acoustic instruments, human voice, field recordings were selected and shared between musicians, edited and processed crosswise. To obtain another level of artistic expression prepared sounds were completed with abstract guitar element and synthesis, mixed together into mostly surreal compositions. The achieved results were nothing like it sounded in the beginning: physical sense of sound was deconstructed to open the way to the stream of new imaginary meanings. The metaphysical spoken word material was used to add another dimension. Sometime after compositions were rediscovered, remastered and presented in a form of music album called "Lunar Seas" in honour of complex poetical image.
The lunar maria /ˈmɑːriə/ (singular: mare /ˈmɑːreɪ/) are large, dark, basaltic plains on Earth's Moon, formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. They were dubbed maria, Latin for "seas", by early astronomers who mistook them for actual seas. They are less reflective than the "highlands" as a result of their iron-rich compositions, and hence appear dark to the naked eye. The maria cover about 16 percent of the lunar surface, mostly on the side visible from Earth.
